OKB-119: Resolving problems with saving collections to a mapped network drive
We have received isolated reports of this problem and are still investigating it. If you are experiencing this problem, please let us know and tell us what kind of network you are on. In the meantime, you can work around the problem by following the instructions below.
Every mapped network drive can be represented by a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path. A UNC path looks like \\servername\sharename\path\file. To find out what the UNC path of your mapped drive is, do the following:
Open a command prompt by going to Start > Run, typing "cmd" and pressing the OK button.
At the prompt, type "net use" then press ENTER.
Locate the mapped drive letter in the first column. Its corresponding UNC path will be in the same row in the "Remote" column.
Now that you know the UNC path of your mapped network drive, you can work around the problem by typing it directly into the space for "File name" in the New Collection and Save Collection As dialogs. It should work. Note that you can type directly into the File name field, even though it looks like you have to select a value from the dropdown menu (see screen shot). Also note that the UNC path that you type into there will override whatever directory is displayed in the dialog.
