OKB-130: Minimizing the file size of large collection files
Over time, changing collection files by adding and deleting items from them can cause a collection file to get fragmented and, therefore, grow larger in file size than is needed. To deal with this, Onfolio automatically consolidates collection files from time to time, but some users may want to manually consolidate a collection file on their own, especially if they have noticed an extremely large files size for a collection. Doing this for a collection file would be similar to performing a defragmentation operation on a hard drive.
To consolidate an Onfolio collection
- Make sure that you are in the Onfolio "Collection" tab.
- Select "Collection Settings" from the Onfolio "File" menu.
- In the "Advanced" section, select "compact".
To consolidate your Onfolio feeds collection
- Make sure that you are in the Onfolio "Feeds" tab.
- Select "Feeds Settings" from the Onfolio "File" menu.
- In the "Advanced" section, select "compact".
For users that have disabled automatic feed refreshing through Feeds preferences, automatic consolidation of the feeds collection will not occur, so users should manually consolidate their feeds using the compaction method outlined above if they notice their feeds performance slowing down. This is a known issue that we will adjust for in future release so that automatic consolidation is managed even when automatic feed refreshing is turned off.
